A Staple of Chiropractic Care in Denton Since 2002

Dr. Jennifer Davis isn’t afraid to admit that she thought her mom had lost her mind when she decided that she wanted to be a chiropractor nearly 25 years ago. In young Jennifer’s eyes (she was a sophomore in high school at the time), chiropractors were quacks, and the one they had in Watford City, North Dakota, was equally as kooky. But the future Dr. Charlotte Burgess was undeterred by her daughter’s ornery opinion. She had just lost her long-time job in the oil industry and was reeling emotionally over having to find a new career path. So, when she took a nap one weekend afternoon and awoke with the epiphany that becoming a chiropractor was the answer, it didn’t matter what anyone else said or thought. To chase this dream, Charlotte moved her entire family to North Texas so that she could attend the esteemed Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas. She quickly soaked everything in like a sponge. Fast-forward a couple of years, and Jennifer had already graduated from high school and was living on her own when she suffered a back injury. She begrudgingly visited her mom for an adjustment, and within four weeks of care, not only was her back feeling significantly better, but her migraines were gone. The same was true for her chronic allergies and stomach problems. She was even sleeping better. Charlotte was addicted to the craft. She opened her practice in 2002 and continued exploring additional certifications to expand her expertise and help more people. The only thing she hadn’t achieved yet was making a full believer out of her daughter. That skepticism started to change in 2005. Jennifer had lost her job at a title company and was working part-time as a front-desk clerk at her mom’s practice. Every day, she watched as patients walked in hunched over in pain and walked out a few minutes later feeling as good as new. No matter the symptom or ailment, her mom seemingly always had an answer. Then came the turning point. Charlotte had been working with an autistic boy. He was considered low-functioning and an extremely challenging case, as he struggled to make eye contact with anyone and would scream if anyone touched him. Within four visits, the boy was noticing airplanes. He also wasn’t screaming or climbing the walls out of fear. By that Christmas, he was opening his presents without help. One day, while Jennifer was holding and hugging him playfully in the office, Dr. Charlotte walked up, held his hands, and said, “Good morning!” The boy immediately replied, “Good morning!” The boy sat there laughing as everyone around him cried tears of joy. That’s when Jennifer exclaimed, “I want to be part of this miracle.” She was committed to becoming a chiropractor.

FAMILY-OWNED AND OPERATED

Dr. Jennifer graduated from Parker University in 2014 and quickly rejoined her mother to push Burgess Chiropractic into the future as a family-owned and operated chiropractic practice. Together, they hold numerous certifications and have surrounded themselves with a staff that shares their mindset of using every chiropractic technique at their disposal—and then some—to help people feel better and overcome painful symptoms and other musculoskeletal dysfunctions that have plagued them for years without having to rely on addictive medications, invasive surgery, and potentially dangerous interventions.
